A Little Taste of Graduation

In my confectionery class I have been taking this semester we were informed about a month ago that for our final we would have to come up with a design for a final project involving four candies and two garnishes. The project would have to have some sort of unifying factor, whether it was a flavor or an idea. For the life of me I could not think of any idea to work with. All I could think of was that I was graduating in a month!! So, it finally hit me, that should be my theme. The next step was to design it and implement the different candies. It did not go as well as I would have hoped (one of my favorite ideas did not end up working) but it was still really cool looking!
All of it is sitting on marshmallow (it was suppose to be a book with brittle as the book cover). Then the graduation cap is made out of chocolate filigree as the cap, a coconut tuile cookie as the top of the cap, and a gummy worm as the tassel. The rolled up diploma leaning against the cap is made from marzipan. Next to those is a tuxedo strawberry. The 2010 is made from Chocolate Hazelnut Nougat and Orange Marmalade Pecan Squares.
